Disney World Proposal

Proposal: Disney World in Orlando, Florida

Their Disney World proposal started in the early afternoon on a very humid spring day. The plan was brought to my attention about two months prior to the proposal. Joe and Gabby were planning to run the Star Wars – The Dark Side Half Marathon. They frequent Disney World in order to run these marathons and they wanted to earn another badge.

Joe decided on the day before the marathon to plan a scavenger hunt with Disney Weddings to make a specialized, custom tailored, unforgettable proposal for his girlfriend. The short version of the story was that Stitch, of Lilo and Stitch, had stolen their cake and they had to find it before Stitch did.

The scavenger hunt instructions said, “To find the cake you must find notes that are hidden around the park to find where Stitch travels in the park. You can save your cake if you find it before the clock strikes 2:30pm.” From there, they were off to the races and only had 45 minutes to complete the task.

The last clue was at Cinderella’s Wishing Well, adjacent to Cinderella’s Castle) where Gabby would be blind folded and inside the ‘cake’ box was a message that wrote “Will you Marry Me?”

She said, “YES!”

The other surprise was that her friends were right about the corner waiting and seeing the proposal from afar. They were able to capture everything on video. Her reaction was priceless.

Given the day after the was the half marathon, we decided to skip a day and took engagement photos at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort for a sunrise session the following morning.
